The Usual Suspects!

Is such a cool blog title, isn’t it? LOL!

Hello everyone!  I just thought I’d do something totally spontaneous this afternoon.  It’s been a trying couple of weeks, what with recuperating from my broken arm and trying to stay sane while staying at home 24/7.

So, what about the usual suspects? First, my family.  To my surprise, once it was established I could do a lot of stuff one handed and it looked like their workload wasn’t increasing all that much, they were pretty happy with things.  Of course, the first couple of weeks, they were treated to a whinier me, and having to help me dress and so on.  But, now I can pretty much cook and clean for myself, although somewhat slower than usual.

My friends have been very supportive, and i actually was able to spend time with my critique partners/friends yesterday, and it was a delight.  I always have a great time when we’re together.

It is the same for my online friends.  Helping me write, edit, and keep up with my plans to continue my writing work, they have been invaluable.  Cheers to them as well!

I haven’t heard much from my co-workers, but I know they are super busy, especially so with my absence.  Sorry about that, guys.

Things I’m getting tired of?  Yucky t.v., anything Casey Anthony, and being stuck at home 90% of the time.

Things I have to look forward to?

Uh, duh.  Physical therapy 3 times next week.  (While it was painful, my therapist was very gentle with me.)

Maybe going to see Harry Potter with my youngest this week.  Also, going to buy new paint for the same daughter to start redecorating the house.  It is long overdue, too.  Sigh.

So, what is everybody up to?  Please, please.  I”m begging you, blog me, facebook me, twitter me.  I need to hear from you!

Happy Reading!

The New Puppies are here!

Hello!

Yes, it’s true.  The new puppies are here, and though it was an unplanned pregnancy we are thrilled to have them.

First of all, who would not love puppies?  Or, kittens, for that matter.  With now 8 dogs in the house, 4 of them being Chihuahua’s, it is truly a blessing.

Now, when our lovely Mina, a brown apple head chi got together with Taco, the semi long haired black and white apple head, we were devastated.  First of all, the breeder that gave us Taco (upon request of a co worker who decided after a month that she couldn’t handle having the dog) that he was unable to breed.  I think her words were ‘no good for breeding,’ which the girls and I took as meaning, he was not able to become a chihuahua daddy.

Wrong.

It meant that because one of his testicles didn’t develop, it was a trait that would be handed down his generations, thus being a flaw and one that might lead to cancer, he wasn’t eligible for breeding.

So, by our mistake, Taco and Mina had a busy morning one day in May, and voila’ two new puppies in the world.  We feel especially blessed because they are both girls, and they are both going to be spayed, as is their mother, upon their weaning.

Not only that, but both have excited doggie parents waiting for them.  A little bit of sweetness in a very confusing, not always good world, and we are happy to do our part.

Everyone have a great week!

Cheers!

Happy Summer, everyone!

I hope you all are sailing through these long, steamy days, engaging in fun stuff like picnics, cookouts, trips to the beach, mountains or museums, as your schedule and location permit.

I’d intended such enjoyments for myself, but fate and fortune had other plans for me.  After three long days at the phone store a couple of weekends ago, dealing with all sorts of cellphone conflicts,I managed to outfit my entire family with new devices.  The events of those days should have been a portent of what was to come.

Last weekend, my girls and I set out for Tampa for a huge anime convention.  The three days of the con flew by without incident.  But be for warned, gentle readers, bad luck is a despicable beast.  She’s conniving and cruel.  As we were leaving, I made the decision to walk the block and a half to the lot where our car was parked (at the near insistence of the hotel concierge–what can I say?  I’m a people pleaser).  Long story short, on the way to my car I tripped on the uneven brick sidewalk and as a result fractured my left arm and dislocated my shoulder.

From there on, all you need to know is that I was admitted to the local hospital immediately, sent to surgery–where i received a number of pins and a steel plate, (the fall had sheared the ball of my left humerus completely off).  Yay, me!

So, as a result my summer plans have changed–drastically.  I’m out of work for 6 to 8 weeks for one.  My travel plans have been seriously amended–as in no more conventions for awhile.

On the good side, I survived and I’m back in one piece.  I’m sure there will still be the occasional cookout, though.  As it turns out, munching on grilled meat and summer salads with my family is one of my most favorite things to do.  So, it’s all good.

Happy reading!

Write time and a new computer

28 Saturday May 2011

Hi all!

Yes, it is Saturday and finally I have time to write.  Really write.  As soon as I’m done with this post I’m heading over to my files and start revising my latest Leigh Curtis story, Branded.  It’s the final installment of Wade and Lily’s story, and boy am I gonna miss them.

What next?  Well, I am continuing with other westerns stories in their world, so not to worry.  I can’t wait to start writing about Wade’s friend Luke and Lily’s dear friend, Marie.  She has a very sizzling past, you know. Something about a riverboat gambler.

Also, I’ve got a lovely regency historical coming out soon, Lord Fortune’s Folly, that I’m finishing up as well.  Then, my long awaited alternate history paranormal, Cry Wolf still in production.  Lots and lots of stuff to do!

The best news of all?  I’m writing this on my new Mac Book Pro.  This is the machine that I’ve lusted over, dreamed about, and begged my financially sound husband like forever.  It’s taken a lot, but at long last, we’ve been able to manage it.

(Yeah, I told my kids that we’re gonna take a break from filling the fridge and that groceries are overrated.  We’ll just buy them next week.  In truth, we could live off of the can goods I have stocked away, though.  Trust me, we won’t starve, LOL.)

So, I’m off to do some writerly stuff before it’s time to do more nursely stuff.

Cheers!

Pam

Ch-ch-ch-changes…

Hi all!

Okay, I’m going to come clean.  I really don’t like change.  If something works, don’t mess with it, that’s me.  As a nurse for 29 years, I’ve seen tons of change in my job.  From the way we care for our patients to the entire structure of health care all together.  It’s a huge, scary world out there, and change is about the only thing you can count on these days.

In most cases, facing big changes makes me want to huddle in the corner and  pull a blanket down over my head.  Fortunately, that isn’t the case today.  I have changes coming and they are good ones, I assure you.

If you ever read any of my books, you know that I’m pretty all over the place when it comes to genre.  I write both straight Regency historcals and Western Historicals, Parnormal, contemporaries and historicals, and erotic short stories.  I’m even developing an Urban Fantasy series.

Since I’ve been writing for years, and published in both print and electronic, I’m thinking it’s time for a change.  A time to refresh, renew, and mix things up a little.

Not to worry, gentle readers.  We’ll start slow. It’ll be easy.  You’ll see.

So, starting this Friday, April 12th, I’m going to re-launch my Cowboy Erotica story, RIDE A COWBOY, on Nook and Kindle, under my brand new pen name, LEIGH CURTIS.  (that is if the computer gods are kind to me and I can get it uploaded.)  For a limited time it’ll be a $.99 download, soon to be followed by the other three novellas in the series and finish with an new story, concluding the series…for now. (wink!)

From now on, all my western stories will be released under Leigh Curtis.  She’s going to have her own wordpress page, too.  So, stay tuned and I’ll post the webpage for that.

So, I hope you’ll join me for a giant release day on Friday, April 15th.  A sexy story is the best way to get your mind off of tax day, right.

Happy Reading!

Pam
